How to Play EnergyPips
The Goal
Cover every cell on the 6×6 grid by placing Energy Links. Each link connects two adjacent cells (horizontally or vertically).
When you've covered all cells while following all the rules, you win!
Energy Links
An Energy Link is a 1×2 rectangle that covers two adjacent cells. To place a link:
- Tap/Click Method: Tap a cell, then tap an adjacent cell
- Drag Method: Press and drag from one cell to an adjacent cell
To remove a link, tap either cell that's part of it.
The Flow Rule (Most Important!)
Energy flows from low to high. Every link must satisfy:
value(start) ≤ value(end)This means:
- A link from 3 to 7 is valid (3 ≤ 7)
- A link from 5 to 5 is valid (5 ≤ 5)
- A link from 8 to 4 is invalid (8 > 4)
Important: The flow constraint only applies between cells connected by a link. Two cells next to each other without a link have no constraint between them.
Region Rules
The grid is divided into regions (shown by thick borders). Each region has exactly one rule:
Range Total
The sum of all values in the region must be within a range.
Example: "Sum: 15-20" means the total must be between 15 and 20.
Cap
All values in the region must be at or below a maximum.
Example: "Max ≤ 5" means no cell can have a value above 5.
Uniform
All values in the region must be the same.
Example: A region with values 4, 4, 4 satisfies "All Equal".
Tips for Solving
- 1.Start with the anchored cells (visible values) and work outward.
- 2.Look for forced links - cells that can only connect one way.
- 3.Use region rules to eliminate possibilities.
- 4.Use Undo freely - experimentation helps!
- 5.Save your hint for when you're truly stuck.
