I build and edit the daily puzzle here. I'm not a mathematician — I'm someone who got hooked on daily logic games, got frustrated that the good ones lock their back catalogue behind a subscription, and decided to build an archive that doesn't.
In practice that means three jobs. I write the rules and strategy guides here and keep them accurate as the format settles. I check the boards: every one of the 1,143 puzzles in our archive is machine-verified against its own solution before it publishes, and the whole set is re-verified on every deployment, because an unsolvable board is the one mistake a puzzle site cannot recover from. And I run the answers section, which now covers 431 days of the New York Times' puzzle.
I am not a mathematician and this site does not pretend otherwise. What I have is a few years of doing these puzzles daily, a stubbornness about getting the rules explained properly, and enough programming to measure things rather than assert them — most of the claims on this site are backed by numbers computed from the boards themselves, and where I could not measure something I say so.

The daily work
Most of what I do here does not look like writing. Every day a new board is published and checked, and every day the New York Times' three boards are collected, re-solved from their own solution data and turned into graduated hints — which is what the answers section is, 431 days deep and running to October 22, 2026.
The archive of our own boards goes back to August 2025 and nothing is ever removed from it. If you find a board that cannot be solved, that is a bug in my generator rather than a hard puzzle, and I would genuinely like to hear about it — the contact page says what to include.
